Shaquille O'Neal will also join from Buckley Air Force Base in Colorado as he visits hundreds of kids of military personnel, sharing stories of how he, the son of a U.S. Army member, grew up just like them).
For the special, Miley Cyrus will perform the inspirational ballad "The Climb," from Walt Disney Pictures' upcoming motion picture, "Hannah Montana The Movie." This marks the first public performance of the song. Corbin Bleu will perform "Moments that Matter" a rousing ballad from his forthcoming album, with the Mt. Vernon High School choir.
In keeping with a theme of the Inauguration, the event will encourage kids and families to participate in community service and to share goodwill with their fellow citizens by preparing service care packages with tips and guidelines from the non-profit USA Service organization, www.USAService.org .
The Jonas Brothers, in conjunction with the non-profit Change for the Children and Do Something.org, will also announce a new texting program to inspire kids to make a difference by signing up to volunteer in their own neighborhoods (standard messaging rates apply and kids under age 13 must have parent's permission).
Attended by Mrs. Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden (who will be introduced by her 15-year-old granddaughter Naomi Biden), the concert special is executive produced by Greg Sills ("The Concert for New York" (post-9/11), "Kids Choice Awards," "VH1 Rock Honors"). Louis J. Horvitz is the director.
13-year-old Perry Rubin of Los Angeles, California, is the special backstage correspondent. The interactive telecast connects kids from around the country to the excitement of the event when Ms. Rubin asks the performers and participants questions from kids, sent via DisneyChannel.com.
Disney.com is inviting everyone to join the celebration by visiting the Kids Inaugural page www.Disney.com/USA which will feature polls, games and videos of the concert performers. A component will also allow guests to chat with friends and send "shout outs" by texting USA, their first name and message to DISNEY (347639).
